Job applications can feel very daunting and difficult, and applying for faculty positions is no exception. Join us to learn about preparing the application, the interviewing process, how decisions are made, and more tips from panelists who have gone through the process and served on search committees. The panelists will answer pre-prepared questions as well as live questions from the audience. This Zoom webinar is free and open to the public.
Speakers
Prof. Jean-Luc Ayitou is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry at University of Illinois at Chicago. His research seeks to bridge knowledge gaps in the area of photo-energy materials and/or solar energy conversion with an emphasis on elucidating the structure-photophysics relationship in novel organic light-harvesting systems.
Prof. Alex Frañó is an assistant professor in the Department of Physics at University of California San Diego. His group research is focused on investigating strongly correlated electron systems using various X-ray scattering techniques.
Prof. Michelle Louise Personick is an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at Wesleyan University. Research in her lab focuses on the synthesis of noble metal and noble metal alloy nanoparticles with well-defined shapes and catalytically active high-energy surfaces.
Prof. Amanda Petford-Long is a professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at Northwestern University and Distinguished Fellow at Argonne National Laboratory. The research in her group concentrates on understanding the behavior of magnetic, ferroelectric and multiferroic oxide nanostructures, and in particular on determining the role that interfaces play in controlling this behavior.
