Matthew S. Emerson is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa working in the Molten Salts in Extreme Environment (MSEE) EFRC. He is also serving as the U.S. DOE Basic Energy Sciences Early Career Network (BES – ECN) Representative for MSEE. He performs experimental synchrotron techniques and molecular dynamics, including polarizable force fields, DFT, and machine learning models to investigate structures and transport properties of molten salts.
